The branch of pharmacology concerned with the movement of drugs within the body.

Pharmacokinetics (PK) is defined as the branch of pharmacology concerned with the movement of drugs within the body. This includes the time course of drug absorption, bioavailability, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. Pharmacokinetics aims to analyze chemical metabolism and to discover the fate of a chemical from the moment that it is administered up to the point at which it is completely eliminated from the body. Pharmacokinetics is the study of how an organism affects a drug; whilst pharmacodynamics (PD) is the study of how the drug affects the organism. PK and PD together influence the dosing, benefit, and adverse effects of drugs, as seen in PK/PD models.
